Introduction
The World Surf League (WSL) is the governing body for professional
surfing. The WSL oversees the annual tour of professional surf

Wave Tour and Qualifying Series (QS). The WSL is headquartered in Santa

The WSL was founded in 1976 as the International Professional Surfers
(IPS), with Australian surfer Ian Cairns as its first president. The IPS
was renamed the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) in 1983. In

Ziff, Andrew Messick, and Paul Speaker. The ASP was renamed the World
Surf League in 2015.
